Home Roasting Setup
I’ve been roasting coffee for over two years now, and would like to share my set up with you. It all centers around the Behmor 1600 electric drum roaster. While the manufacturer says it is capable of up to a pound, I would recommend staying under a half-pound to avoid baking the coffee. The pre-set roasting profiles range from full power; a variety of incrementing power percentages; one starts high, drops low, and increases near … Read entire article »

Coffee Fest 2011
Having never attended, this year I made it a point to go to Coffee Fest this year in Seattle. Being a trade show, a new café or roasting business could find all the coffee, tea, smoothie, syrup, espresso machine, even music distributors necessary to get started. Identification badge around my neck I ventured on to the show floor, representing Civilian … Read entire article »

On August 26th I attended the grand opening of the Cartlandia food cart pod on SE 82nd. This pod is destined to be a “super pod” and a destination in its own right with room for 35 carts, on-site parking, brick-and-mortar restrooms, and space for a full pub. So far the count is only 11 carts, including Serendipity Espresso. The … Read entire article »

At their Century Drive location, where their 12 kilo Diedrich currently resides, we first encountered Tom. He presented us with a pair of bottled El Salvador cold brew while waiting for Dave to … Read entire article »
